LaughingStock Comedy Company Announces

Two Benefit Performances in October 2014

Proceeds to benefit Tanque Verde High School Theatre Department

and St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church (USA).

 

Tucson, Arizona – LaughingStock Comedy Company brings home their unique brand of improvisational comedy to two Tucson venues on October 3 and 4, 2014. LaughingStock performs at 6 PM on Friday, October 3 at Tanque Verde High School, 4201 N. Melpomene Way, Tucson. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and are available at the door. More information is available by calling 520-760-0801 x 1207. Proceeds will benefit the TVHS Theatre Department in their efforts to purchase new curtains. The second performance is Saturday, October 4 at 7:30 PM at St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church (USA), 2695 N. Houghton Road, Tucson. The show is open to the public and donations will be accepted. More information is available by calling 520-749-3615. Proceeds will benefit the church’s missions and outreach.

 

Improvisational comedy shows are made up of fresh, original scenes based on audience input. The audience fills in the details of LaughingStock’s distinctive comedy by volunteering a variety of suggestions (emotions, objects, activities, occupations, locations) throughout the performance. “Improv” is immediate and exciting. The audience is in on the fun as they see their ideas mushroom into comedy mayhem.

 

LaughingStock Comedy Company was founded as a touring troupe in 1993 by performing partners Lesley Abrams and Dean Steeves. LaughingStock has performed over 1500 public appearances and at corporate and association special events in the US, Canada and Mexico. Abrams is a highly regarded actress on the Tucson theatre scene and is Pastor at St John Presbyterian Church (USA). Steeves manages the troupe’s travel and business and provides communications consultancy to a variety of clients. LaughingStock located to Tucson in 1998.

 

Tanque Verde High School (www.tanqueverdeschools.org) is a comprehensive public high school located in the suburban community of Tanque Verde northeast of Tucson, Arizona. Tanque Verde is the only high school in the Tanque Verde Unified School District. Tanque Verde was established in 2005 under the Twenty First Century School model designed by Bill Gates and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The school's first graduating class had their commencement May 21, 2008 with 20 students, all receiving various honors and scholarships for college.

 

St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church (www.stjohnonthedesert.org) is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is one of twenty-nine churches within the Presbytery de Cristo encompassing Southern Arizona and the western edge of New Mexico.
