Subject: Audition Notice: Gypsy
The Community Players are holding auditions for their November production of Gypsy on September 2 and 3 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Auditions will be held at The Community Playhouse, located at 1881 N. Oracle Road (Just north of La Fuente Restaurant). Parking, and the main entrance, are located in the rear of the building.
Gypsy is loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with "the ultimate show business mother." It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage.
Some major roles have been filled, but Louise and Herbie are still open. In addition, men, women and children are needed to fill a number of other roles in the show.
Performers auditioning for parts should also have a song prepared, with sheet music for the accompanist. They should also be prepared to cold read from the script.
