AUDITION CALL
2016 Arts Express Building careACTOR Production
Shrek the Musical
Directed by Michael Candela
The Arts Express Building careACTOR program, in partnership with the Arizona Schools for the Deaf and Blind, unites actors from the deaf, blind and general community. Using synchronized speaking/signing, English and American Sign Language (ASL) is interwoven with music, dance and storytelling techniques to create a one-of-kind theatrical event. In recognition of this top-notch, innovative program, Arts Express was a 2015 award winner in the Arizona Commission of the Arts "Art Tank" program!
Join our unlikely hero, and his "loyal steed" Donkey as they embark on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona from a fire breathing, love-sick dragon. Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits, and a cookie with attitude, and you've got the biggest, brightest musical comedy around! Based on the Oscar® winning DreamWorks film, the adventure teaches Shrek about friendship, embracing what makes him special and of course, true love!
Actors with any experience ages 12-25 welcome, with exceptions made at director discretion based on character needs
