A journey to BRAZIL and CUBA - dance and drum!
Join us as we welcome MARK LAMSON (www.marklamson.com) to Tucson!
We will be offering both DANCE and DRUM classes in the style of BATA KETU.
BATA KETU - Conceived as a fusion and interplay of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian folkloric music, Mark (and Michael Spiro) produced the CD in 1996, and it is hailed around the world as being a landmark recording. It is registered with the Smithsonian Institute and has received funding from the Rockefeller Institute.
You will have the opportunity to explore the relationship of the rhythms of the African Diaspora that came to both Brazil and Cuba, as well as the movement!
No experience necessary!

SolAxé Group Rehearsals TUESDAYS at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory, 1013 S Tyndall Ave, Tucson, 6:30-8:30 pm. Come learn to DRUM or DANCE; no experience is needed. Membership is $40/mo with discounts for students and those who need it, please ask. Membership includes Tuesday rehearsals and instruction, as well as Sunday Dance Class!

Sol Axé (pronounced, Sol – ah –SHAY) a project under Many Mouths One Stomach, is a nonprofit drum and dance community in Tucson, Arizona. Inspired by the music of Brazil, Sol Axe features the music of many traditions from Brazil, the African Diaspora, and the World. Our intention is to inspire creativity, inclusiveness, community solidarity, and collective JOY, through lessons and classes, outreach programs, workshops, and high energy performances. We collaborate with individuals and groups in Tucson, the nation, and around the globe, bringing the opportunity for artistic expression to all. SolAxé is excited and honored to be a new project under the 501 (c) 3 Many Mouths One Stomach (http://www.manymouths.org/) . MMOS, the producer of the All Souls Procession, is a Tucson based collective of artists, teachers, and community activists who come together with the intent to create, inspire, manifest, and perpetuate modern festal culture.
