Subject: ST. FRANCIS THEATRE — AUDITIONS FOR FALL PRODUCTION OF "LUNA GALE"

The Los Angeles Times has called Rebecca Gilman's Luna Gale a "grimly rich study of the fight to protect a child," and one of 2014's "most valuable additions to American drama."  The child is the infant Luna Gale, born to drug-addicted parents and caught up in a familial, religious and social struggle over who should raise her and with what values.

The play, which has been produced across the country, will make its Arizona debut at St. Francis Theatre, October 13-29, 2017.

The St. Francis run of this play will be high level: competitive stipends for actors; professional quality set design and production values; extensive publicity and promotion; and the use of an excellent dedicated theater space for both performance and rehearsals.  Director Mark Klugheit's last production, Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage, received four MAC AWARD nominations ("Best of Tucson Theater") including two for Best Actor and one for Best Director.

Auditions are Saturday, May 6 from 11 am to 3 pm and Monday, May 8 from 6 to 9 pm, at St. Francis in the Foothills Church, NW corner of River and Swan Roads, Tucson.  Auditions on May 6 will be in rooms 30/31 (look for signs) and on May 8 in the Community Center.  Actors may attend both audition sessions, or either one.  Callbacks, if necessary, will be Saturday, May 13 at 11:00 am.

There are seven roles available, all with dramatic significance: 2 for women playing 40-early 50s; 2 for women playing late teens-early 20s; 2 for men playing mid-30s-mid 50s; and 1 for a man playing early-mid 20s.  Rehearsals will begin August 19.

Auditioners should arrive at the beginning of the scheduled audition period and be prepared to remain long enough to read multiple sides and different roles in various groupings. Sides will be available in hard copy at the auditions but also will be supplied electronically approximately one week in advance to those who have requested them from the director.

If auditioning, please bring with you (hard copy) a head shot, CV, and a written list of all conflicts between August 19 and October 29.

Those considering auditioning should feel free to email director Mark Klugheit (mklugheit@comcast.net) with any questions.  There is no need to email a second time if you have already requested sides.
