*****

I'm always excited about this class because we work on developing the "state of being" that is found in all great performances of realism.  Relaxed.  Grounded.  Outwardly-focused.  Impulsive.  Experiential.  Absorbing through the senses.  All the stuff that elevates the presence of an actor and makes for a magnetic performance regardless of the dialogue, staging, or style.

We do this by focusing on various layers of performance, one at a time, during long improvisations.  This gives the actor time to settle in and become more deeply involved in experiencing each moment.  It also instills in us the all-important difference between "showing/indicating" the moment and "experiencing" the moment, the latter being preferable.

Some of the layers we'll work on:

RELAXATION

BREATHING

FOCUS

STILLNESS

LISTENING

SENSE OF PLACE

CHARACTER

INTENTION

RELATIONSHIP

If you want to get "into the zone" for a while, this work will get you there.
