BORDERLANDS THEATER TO PRESENT THE PLAY A VISITOR’S GUIDE TO ARIVACA –MAP NOT TO SCALE BY EVANGELINE ORDAZ  (Developmental Production), SEPTEMBER 23 & 24 AT THE LEO RICH THEATRE, 260 S. CHURCH.

This new play examines the intersection of human lives and experiences in our border region. What happens when migrants, ranchers, Native Americans and Samaritan groups encounter one another? A sharp commentary on the law versus fundamental human needs.  An original drama inspired by interviews and stories of local residents who struggle with these critical issues.

Los Angeles-based playwright Evangeline Ordaz has traveled to Tucson several times during the past year, in order to develop the play.  During these visits she has traveled in the region and she has interviewed members of the Samaritan Patrol, Humane Borders, No More Deaths, as well as local residents.

Directed by Barclay Goldsmith, A Visitors Guide to Arivaca will also be performed in Mexico City at the CĂrculo Teatral, January 2007, with local actors and in Spanish, as part of Borderlands Theater U.S./Mexico Project.
