 WAYPOINT THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS

COTTON PATCH GOSPEL
bY Tom Key & Russell Treyz
Music by Harry Chapin
based on the book "The Cotton Patch Gospels of Matthew and John"
by Clarence Jordan

Years before the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? transposed Homer's Odyssey against a l930s bluegrass score in Louisiana, the musical Cotton Patch Gospel propeled the life of Christ into modern rural Georgia...complete with grits, pecan pie and the KKK.  Adapted by Tom Key and Russell Treyz from renowned inter-racial social worker, Clarence Jordan's The Cotton Patch Gospels, this bluegrass musical features music by the late great Harry Chapin ("The Cat's In The Cradle", "Taxi") that creates a boldly conceived, profoundly poignant theatre experience.  A rip-roarin', toe-tappin', gutt-bustin' musical treat!

Featuring Tamie award winners guitarist Greg Morton and fiddler Tim O'Connor, with Four Corners Champion Rudy Cortese on banjo, Ed Davenport (bass) and John Jensen (dobro/mandolin).
Waypoint regulars Tynan Orenn, Marc Sandin, Frank Gates, Matt Felzien and Rich Weeks play 48 roles without leaving the stage.

It pays to arrive early!  There will be a bluegrass jam featuring the musicians on stage twenty minutes prior to each performance.
