Second part of Felder's "Composer Trilogy" plays limited engagement
Arizona Theatre Company is pleased to announce the addition of Hershey Felder as Monsieur Chopin to the 2007-2008 season. This limited engagement runs in Tucson October 5 – 7 and in Phoenix October 31 – November 4, and features the romantic story and music of the Polish pianist-composer Frederic Chopin.

Monsieur Chopin marks the second in a trilogy about composers and their music, which is preceded by George Gershwin Alone, currently scheduled at Arizona Theatre Company September 12 – October 2 in Tucson and October 11 – 28 in Phoenix. The final part of the trilogy, Beethoven, As I Knew Him, will premiere at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego next spring.
Created by the same team bringing George Gershwin Alone to life, Monsieur Chopin begins at Frederic Chopin’s salon at 9 Square d’Orleans in Paris. Monsieur Chopin teaches a piano lesson that actually took place on 4 March, 1848, just days after the February 1848 revolution. As Monsieur Chopin’s piano lesson unfolds, he reveals secrets about the art of the piano and composition, as well as secrets about himself. Considered by his contemporaries, and now by history, as the true “Poet of the Piano,” Monsieur Chopin features some of the pianist-composer’s most beautiful and enduring music, including Prelude in C Minor, Mazurka in A Flat Major, Polonaise in A Major, and his elegant Nocturnes.
The Chicago Tribune hails Monsieur Chopin a “CRITIC’S PICK” and the Chicago Daily Herald calls it “Entertaining and enlightening … The success of Monsieur Chopin depends on its star, and Felder delivers.”Tickets to Monsieur Chopin are currently available to Arizona Theatre Company subscribers with exclusive discount opportunities.
For information call the ATC box office in Tucson at (520) 622-2823 or in Phoenix at (602) 256-6995.
