Subject: [IFASA] Art of Pitching Workshop
The Hanson Film Institute is again offering their highly popular Art of Pitching workshop. I have taken the workshop and know many other people who have. We all agree that it is a terrific source of information and feedback, whether you are working on a screenplay or seeking funding, or intend to do either in the future.

The Hanson Film Institute at The University of Arizona presents
The Art of Pitching Workshop
Saturday & Sunday, March 7-8, 2009 • Noon - 4 pm
The University of Arizona, School of Media Arts: 845 N. Park Avenue, (Marshall Building), Second Floor
Facilitated by Lorna Soroko, Producer/Writer/Development Executive, with Ronnie Clemmer, Visiting L.A.-based Television/Film/Documentary Producer
Do you have an idea that you think would make a great feature film or TV movie or series? Maybe you know someone with a life story that you think should be a movie? In this workshop, you’ll learn how to turn that idea into an effective pitch, designed for presentation to entertainment industry professionals. By the end of the workshop, the participants will pitch their project to a visiting L.A.-based Television/Film/Documentary Producer, and each participant will receive valuable individual feedback with specific recommendations for project and pitch improvement.
This workshop, open to students and members of the community, will cover pitching – what to put in, what to leave out, how to present it, and how to create an original, compelling logline. Participants will practice pitching and will receive feedback from the workshop leader designed to improve the pitch. Also discussed will be: how to get to the pitching stage, writing and pitching for a specific market, knowing the buyer you’re submitting/pitching to, and ideas on how to stay attached to the project. Visiting producer Ronnie Clemmer will demonstrate a pitch he presented that led to a sale and production. On the second day of the workshop, participants will pitch to Mr. Clemmer and Ms. Soroko, and will receive “notes” on the pitches, assessing strengths, weaknesses and market potential, based on the leaders’ extensive experience with development and production. Workshop participants will benefit from hearing feedback on all of the projects.
