An APA NewsGram - February 10, 2009

***********************************************

Dear APA Member/Industry Professional:

Following is an URGENT message regarding Arizona's Tax Incentive Program to benefit our industry. As you know, Arizona has a huge fiscal deficit and is looking to cut programs. TOMORROW the Finance Committee will be holding a PUBLIC meeting to help determine whether or not OUR incentive program should be cut.

Please take the time to READ the following message, then ACT. This affects our livelihood, and only by joining our voices together can we hope to keep what we've got.

Please don't respond to this e-mail - we won't get it. If you need to contact APA, send a NEW email to: info@azproduction.com. Please note this is the ONLY INFO we have on this meeting and this campaign.

----------------------------------------------

Dear APA Members,

As you know, our State is looking to make budget cuts wherever possible.  They are now focusing on the Arizona Motion Picture Tax Incentives and the State Film Office. The Finance Committee will be holding a hearing TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY (2/11/09) at the State Capitol (room SHR 3) and it is open to the public.

This is the time for all of us to rally together and support the incentive program and our State Film Office.  Is the program perfect - no.  However, if we lose the Tax Incentive program, we will not have the opportunity to improve it and/or keep Arizona competitive with the other 45 states that also have Film Incentive Programs.

Many of you have fought long and hard to achieve the progress that we made thus far, and we do not want all of those efforts to be wasted.  Only by working together and showing our support of the Film Office and the Incentive Program will we have a chance to save them.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY.

How You Can Help ...

Make a phone call or send an email RIGHT NOW.  Below you will find the names of Senators, and the neighborhoods they represent, who are meeting Wednesday afternoon to decide the fate of the film industry in Arizona.  APA and other industry organizations have worked hard to pass this program and put it into place, and we should not let it die in a committee meeting.  Please pick one or more of these Senators and call them or send them an email right now.  Tell them:

1)  You work in the film industry.

2)  The local film industry is made up of small business owners and hard-working entrepreneurs.

3)  The State Film Office and the Motion Picture Tax Credit is important to the local film industry, important to tourism and important to Arizona.

4)  The Motion Picture Tax Credit is working, it just needs time to reach its full potential.

Then ask for their support of the State Film Office and the Motion Picture Tax Credit.

Please call or email at least one of the following Senators today.  Thank you for your help.
