AUDITIONS
ARIZONA ROSE THEATRE CO.

for

THE RAINMAKER

November 28th
from 6:00pm to 8pm
at the BERGER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
1200 W. Speedway Blvd
(these are open auditions - no appointment necessary)

Please have a prepared monologue

 Description:
Saddled to a failing cattle ranch in the Dust Bowl with a family of menfolk, Lizzy
Curry has just about given up hope of finding love and escape. But when a charming trickster
named Starbuck breezes into town promising to bring rain for $100, Lizzy's father gives the man
the last of the family's savings, knowing that what he has to offer them, and Lizzy, is more than
just rain. The Rainmaker is a classic American tale of the power of hope during hard times.

Time Commitment:

We will have a pull-together and a few Rehearsals mid December with full
rehearsal schedule beginning early January. Production runs early February.

Compensation:
The joy of performing

Please have a prepared monologue

We will be auditioning for the following roles

Jim
Early twenties. Has the sensibilities of a 9 year old boy.
A farm kid type who would be more comfortable operating a plough than a
pen and using his muscles than his mind.  Overall, has the innocence
of a child and the heart of one too.

Noah
Mid to late twenties.  Has good head on his shoulder and, possibly, a mind for business.
Has the wisdom of the world beyond his years and the ability to see what is
right and wrong very clearly though he may not be able to express it in any hugely constructive way.
He is the kind of man who one could see growing into a kind old father and friendly
small business owner.  He has the ability to command the attention of a room
with his personality, but still project an air of love and care.

File
Early thirties.  The kind of fella that exudes kindness.  A good man
with only enough social skills to get by in the world.  Despite that, he has a  charm
that makes you want to spend time with him even though there is a darkness deep in his
eyes that betrays the scars of a once broken heart.

Papa Curry
60's plus; widower, straight-forward, hard-pressed farmer desperate to save his land.

Sheriff Thomas
40-50's-county lawman and friend to the Curry family.
