The Heat is Coming Indoors This Summer
TUCSON, April 22, 2014 – SwanRise Productions is pleased to announce that it will be bringing the heat indoors this summer with a concert series at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa. The series continues SwanRise’s Rhythm Nights offering of world class entertainment, this time featuring international smooth jazz stars.
On Saturday, June 28, The Sax Pack starring Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole, and Jackiem Joyner will showcase the three headliner saxophone players in one concert that will kick the summer series off with fireworks on the stage. The idea of The Sax Pack originated in 2004 with saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa after he saw a movie about the “Rat Pack,” a group of legendary entertainers led by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr.
Inspired by their showmanship and camaraderie, Kashiwa came up with the name The Sax Pack and called on some of his saxophone peers and started a new group that would feature the instrument, as well as their collective musical passion for jazz, funk and R&B.
On Saturday, August 2, Marc Antoine and Brian Simpson will be showcased. Guitarist, composer and producer, Marc Antoine will be coming to the Old Pueblo from his home in Madrid, Spain. Marc’s career boasts many #1 hits on the R&R contemporary jazz charts, as well as topping the billboard charts. He has received numerous awards and nominations in the U.S. and Canada and Marc was especially honored when George Benson mentioned him as one of his favorite acoustic guitarists.
Celebrated keyboardist, composer and studio musician, Brian Simpson has always been a working jazz musician. He has toured with some of the greats of recent jazz history, including George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Larry Carlton, Kirk Whalum, and Jonathan Butler. Brian has been the musical director for jazz saxophonist Dave Koz for the past 15 years and for the last 8 years the Musical Director of the highly popular “Smooth Jazz Cruise" featuring Marcus Miller and David Sanborn.
In addition to these great talents, the series will feature VIP tables, special hotel rates, discounts at resort outlets, after concert Meet and Greet, and discounts for purchasing tickets to both shows. Special hotel pricing will also be available for concert attendees who purchase tickets for SwanRise’s annual showcase event, Rick Braun’s New Year’s Eve Gala, which takes place at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa on December 31, 2014.
All concerts begin at 7:30 PM and doors will open at 6:30 PM. Tickets will go on sale the first of May.
