Advocate Alert

Does the Arizona you want include arts and culture?

Tomorrow - Friday, June 6, gubernatorial candidates Ken Bennett, Doug Ducey, Fred Duval, Christine Jones and Scott Smith will address the issues the Arizona We Want Institute says are most important to our citizens - education, job creation, land, water and open spaces, infrastructure, healthcare, young talent, encouraging civic engagement and building community.

AzCentral will be broadcasting a forum live from the Phoenix Convention Center from 9-11 a.m. AND - citizens are invited to ask their own questions of the candidates via Twitter.

Arts and culture is NOT explicitly on this list, but you CAN make your voice heard during this important forum by participating on Twitter.

You know that a vibrant arts and culture sector is critical to educating our young people, building community, generating tourism, supporting local businesses and attracting and keeping our young, knowledge workers that are so critical to our economy.

So get ready to tweet your questions. Here's how:

  1. Watch the live stream broadcast of the forum at azcentral.com from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 6
  2. Tweet your questions #azgov #azneedsartsandculture

What's your biggest issue? Restoring funding? More art in the schools? More arts in rural communities? Arts and tourism? Let the candidates know where we stand.

More information about the forum is available here:

A donation today to Arizona Citizens for the Arts will help us defray the costs of Vote smART Arizona 2014, a very important grass roots campaign to increase understanding and awareness of the importance of arts and culture to Arizona's economy and community life.

And for a donation of $25 or more, we will send you a Vote smART Arizona campaign button so that your friends, families and colleagues will know that you intend to Vote smART in 2014.
