Subject: The Art of the Detective Begins with Film 'Double Indemnity'

Join us for this year's Widescreen Wednesday film series,''The Art of the Detective,'' as we kick it off with Double Indemnity, a film that launched film noir and defined film noir iconography.

The femme fatale is a screen character with a long history of box office value and cultural presence. We will look at how Paramount promoted its controversial adaptation of James M. Cain's novel (''Paramount's terrific drama of an unholy love and an almost perfect crime!'') and Barbara Stanwyk's iconic, film noir, femme fatale (You can't kiss away a murder!'')

Enjoy a brief talk by a UA Theatre, Film & Television faculty expert before the film, as well as a student film short!

All the fun begins at 7pm on Wednesday, October 8th, in the UA Center for Creative Photography. Open to the public at no charge. What an exciting way to look at the evolution of film entertainment!
