"Every second generation immigrant struggles with what is home—the community one's parents came from, or the community one was raised in. IN THE HEIGHTS is a two-hour celebration of home, family and finding where you belong; filled with wonderful music and energetic dancing." - director Todd Poelstra
The story is set in a vibrant New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. The tightly knit neighborhood is a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of immigrants from mostly Latin countries. But, it's also a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
IN THE HEIGHTS won the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestration.
Pima Community College Center For The Arts - 2202 W Anklam Rd, Tucson, AZ, 85709, (520) 206-6986
