Music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quira Alegría Hudes, conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Originally produced on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller, Jill Furman Willis, Sander Jacobs, Goodman/Grossman, Peter Fine and Everett/Skipper. (Tony Award-winning Miranda is an American actor, composer, rapper and writer, most recently recognized for creating and starring in Broadway's latest award winning musical HAMILTON.) IN THE HEIGHTS is brought to the stage by the creative team of Todd Poelstra, Mickey Nugent, Martha Reed and Dr. Mark Nelson. This upbeat contemporary musical embraces Latin rhythms and dance, and spices it with hip-hop lyrics to tell a captivating story about chasing the American dream while clinging to your roots. In Washington Heights, community is everything and the residents struggle to survive as they grapple with love, identity and racism. Winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestration.
