JUDITH
October 12 & 15, 2017
Artistic Director Ashley Bowman choreographs the world premiere of Judith, a story of heroism, struggle, power and spirituality. Art Historian Kevin Justus collaborates with Bowman to adapt the ancient story of the "Book of Judith", one of the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books of the Bible, dating back to the 2nd century B.C. Known for fusing contemporary movement, acting, and narrative, Artifact tells the tale of Judith, who goes against the great general Holofernes, commanded by the ruthless King Nebuchadnezzar. Ilaria Guerra dances the role of Judith.

DOWNTOWN
November 16-19, 2017
Rooted in downtown Tucson's historic arts warehouse district, Artifact Dance Project continues its series of collaborations with local musicians. For this fall concert, singer Rebecca Carlson will perform iconic jazz standards from the past to present day. The band includes Chris Black, Sly Slipetsky, and Fred Hayes. The choreography, lighting and costumes will capture an essence of the 1940s as we turn our downtown space into an intimate soiree.

FRIDA
MARCH 22-25, 2018

Artifact Dance Project takes on the life and spirit of the legendary artist, Frida Kahlo, in a moving collaboration with musicians Lane Harmon and Roger King, who brought the project to choreographer Ashley Bowman. Frida's powerful artwork and complicated journey with her partner, painter and muralist Diego Rivera, influences the staging, music and costuming. Claire Hancock dances the role of Frida and actor David Alexander Johnston takes on the role of Diego Rivera.

NEW MOVES
MAY 3-6, 2018
Three up-and-coming choreographers premiere original works in an intimate studio concert. Working with Artistic Director Ashley Bowman, they will push creative boundaries, providing an exceptional opportunity for the audience to experience this next generation of talent.  Choreographers include Allie Knuth, Samuel Kraus and Nate Myer.
