Subject: LET FREEDOM SING - Come Sing with US!
Hello! We are excited about our 35th annual Let Freedom Sing and invite you to COME SING WITH US! Our Creative Team is busy at work developing another very exciting program for this year's concert! This year, we are thrilled to announce that Let Freedom Sing 2019 will include TWO SHOWS at the Fox Tucson Theatre, the crown jewel of downtown Tucson. As a choir member, you will experience a diversity of programming and a passion for excellence. You'll be part of a dynamic team that will delight over 2,200 audience members and foster a sense of community. Musical selections will include patriotic standards and all-American hits, with a star-spangled line-up!
AUDITIONS will be held to get to know the voice of each choir member. Auditions will be held at the Junior League (2099 E. River Rd) at the following day/time:
Friday, 5/24 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Auditions will take approximately 5 minutes with sign-ups in 15-minute increments for up to 3 people. TO SIGN-UP PLEASE CLICK HERE or call (520) 319-0400.
Be prepared to sing the National Anthem, as well as a quick call and response style session (how fast is your ear?) 😊

NOTE: There is lots of nearby parking. Detailed parking instructions will be provided for all choir members.
SUSAN LANE STOKES, LFS Artistic Director
Versatile, joyful, multi-talented Susan Lane Stokes brings enthusiasm and expertise to her performing, teaching and directing careers. As a singer, Susan's appearances in over 40 opera, operetta, musical theater and orchestral works across the US have garnered both critical acclaim and popular appeal for her warm, lovely voice, effortless singing and immediate believability. Favorite roles include Violeta in La Traviata, Mim in La Boheme , Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Lady Shayne in Noel Coward's Bittersweet, and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus. One highlight among many was her appearance as a part of San Francisco Opera's 75th Anniversary Celebrations. She brings this extensive experience to her voice studio, imparting solid vocal technique, dramatic ability, languages, and musical skills. Susan works with students of all levels. Locally, Susan directed the successful Opera on the Streetcar for the Opera Guild of Southern Arizona, including a popular first time flash mob opera chorus on Tucson's Streetcar. She has written, produced, and directed several children's shows. She also produced 'Sounds of Hope, a benefit concert boasting over 140 musicians from The University of Arizona, Tucson Boys Chorus, members of the Tucson Symphony and chorus which benefited Habitat for Humanity's work in Sri Lanka after the tsunami of 2004. Susan has appeared with Arts Express as Mrs. Fezziwig in 'The Christmas Carol' for the past three years. She is happy to join the Arts Express directing staff for the upcoming Let Freedom Sing concert at the Fox Theater on July 4th.
MARK GARY, Music Director
Mark Gary received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta. He has earned masters' degrees from the University of Illinois in both Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance. With the University of Illinois Opera Theater, Mark has sung the tenor roles of Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus, Don Curzio in Marriage of Figaro, Daniel Buchanann in Street Scene, and Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte. He has also appeared as soloist with the Quad Cities Symphony, The University of Illinois Symphony and Oratorio Society, Sinfonia da Camera, the Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana and the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. Equally at home on the podium, Mark has conducted and prepared choral ensembles in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Arizona. He has served as Director of Music Ministries at Solebury United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church of Okemos and as Artistic Director of the Swarthmore Chorale. Currently, he is Director of Traditional Music Ministries at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
