BT2 PRESENTS ITS END-OF-SEASON CONCERT – SUNDAY, JUNE 9 @ 2:00 PM

BT2 - Ballet Tucson's exceptional youth ballet presents its end-of-season concert on Sunday, June 9 at 2:00 pm at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre on the campus of the University of Arizona.

The highlight of the program is Paquita faithfully staged by Assistant Artistic Director Chieko Imada.  This cornerstone of the classical ballet repertoire displays Spanish-style dance-infused with bold expression, technical virtuosity, and spirited music by Ludwig Minkus.

Mozart Mélange (premiere) is an embodiment of a bourgeois era in which games, gossip, and grace encompassed the indulgent Rococo style of European high society.  This piece reflects back on the aristocratic culture that gave birth to ballet in the royal courts through the genius works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and transports us to a time of exuberance and beauty.

In Studio A – Former Ballet Tucson Principal Dancer Benjamin Tucker creates a new work for our advanced dancers.  This informal and seemingly "spur of the moment" choreography incorporates partnering work and movement that highlights each cast member as a unique artist.

Patchwork is a series of American inspired dances.  From cowboy, folk music, and bluegrass genres to Latin and Hawaiian offerings, dances are presented to represent our "melting pot culture" in a celebratory and joyous way.  Choreography is by Mary Beth Cabana , Chieko Imada, and Daniel Precup, with staging by faculty member Michelle Alexander.  The piece is performed in simple costumes and accessories and aims to capture our American sense of pride and diversity.
