Winding Road Theater Ensemble presents our second annual
ten minute play festival: Eight 10s in Tucson Online!
Eight 10s in Tucson Online is now being streamed on Winding Road's YouTube channel! These eight original scripts were chosen from hundreds of blind submissions from playwrights all over America, vetted and curated to assemble an eclectic collection of comedies and dramas on myriad themes pertinent to our lives. We'll be rolling out a new play every few days until all eight are live.
Our first installment is Only Essentials, by Michael Adams. While facing evacuation due to an approaching wildfire, a couple find a box tucked into a closet corner, their gay son's ashes inside. Reminiscing about what they've lost, they question whether to take the box with them or leave it behind. Only Essentials is directed by Dave Davidson, starring ensemble member Denise Blum and Ray Joseph, making his Winding Road debut.
In a world of unrest, facing a future of uncertainty, the arts provide us all with respite, release, and perspective. Whether we're dancing, drawing, reading novels, streaming films, or making music, the arts have been our constant companion during the pandemic. Throughout the protests, black artists have shared their unique experience- illuminating their struggle, and igniting our nation's long overdue compassion.
This spring, Winding Road artists-actors, directors, and technicians-worked remotely to create this festival of eight short plays, rehearsed and filmed live via video conferencing. Eight 10s Online is being presented without cost to the viewer. We hope that you'll click on our donation button and support Winding Road. While theaters are closed, our only income is via donations from friends who miss the experience of sitting in the dark, sharing a moment of discovery with strangers.
