'Areno' (Japanese for 'The Desert')

Christopher Gaines (writer/director) is casting 'Areno,' a half hour
short that explores the lonely souls, unattainable dreams, and comic
tragedies that unfold for an out-of-place Asian-American military
family surviving in the Arizona desert.

Three-day teaser shoot and camera test begins January 7th in Tucson, Arizona.

Seeking –
Derek; 13-15 yr. old Asian American boy. He's relatively well liked
and moderately popular in his class, in spite of the fact that he is
clumsy, socially awkward, and desperately in need of a pair of

Kiyomi; 35-40 yr. old Asian American man. Father of Derek and slightly
overweight, Kiyomi presents himself as calm and easy going but spirals
downward upon discovering his wife's possible infidelity.

Diane; 35-40, Caucasian woman. Mother of Derek and high strung. She is
determined, smart, and fit, struggling to get her degree while
balancing a career in the military and her role as a mother.
