FLUTTERING WINGS AND STORIES THAT SOAR! AT THE PROCESSION OF LITTLE ANGELS

Children's words about life and death are heard through the performers of Stories that Soar!

On Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 3:00p- 7:00p at the Joel D. Valdez Downtown Library, Stories that Soar! will collaborate with the organizers of the All Souls Procession to create a family friendly performance at the 2nd annual Procession of Little Angels.  The event provides an opportunity for the community to examine the concept of death and the value of life from the perspective of the child.

It is a rare occasion that children are encouraged, or even allowed, to speak about their feelings of life and death.  Yet, it all fits within the Stories that Soar! mission to empower children to believe in themselves by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas.  Usually Stories that Soar! and its "hungry" Magic Box that eats children's original stories can be seen at local elementary schools bringing a wide variety of stories to life through innovative theatre productions. In this special performance the Magic Box selected stories from children involved with Tu Nidito, a nonprofit grieving center for youth, and other young writers who chose to write on more introspective topics.

The Procession of Little Angels is an event designed entirely for kids, held the day before the All Souls Procession. It begins with kid's art activities such as wing making, face painting and sugar skull decorating, followed by the first performance by Stories that Soar! showcasing children's stories performed by adult actors. Workshops are available for children to prepare for the procession and the final performance. Angels on stilts will lead the children on a procession around a downtown public square to the finale stage area, where Stories that Soar! and host of diverse artists and magical guests present a live performance-spectacle.   All families are invited to take part in this free community event  at the Joel D. Valdez Library in the Jacome Plaza, 101 N. Stone Ave. from 3:00p- 7:00p on Saturday, November 3, 2007.
