Catalina Players Announces Auditions
The Twilight of the Golds by Jonathan Tolins
Directed by Bill C. Fikaris
The Story: If your parents knew everything about you before you were born, would you be here? That is the question posed in this provocative drama. All is well when Suzanne Gold and her close New York family discover that she is pregnant, until a prenatal test reveals that the baby will be born with a “specific” gene. The news forces the entire Gold family to confront issues of bigotry, evolution and the limits of love.
Character Breakdown: (3 men, 2 women) – MEN STILL NEEDED FOR LEAD ROLES
David Gold – mid to late twenties, Charming, sensitive, gay, aspiring set designer, passionate opera fan (Wagner to be exact).
Suzanne Gold-Stein – early to mid thirties, David’s sister, Bright, attractive. Feels as if she never lived up to her own potential. Works as a buyer for Bloomingdale’s.
Rob Stein – early to mid thirties, Suzanne’s husband. A genetic researcher. A handsome, decent fellow. Still feels like an outsider in his wife’s family.
Phyllis Gold – fifties. David and Suzanne’s mother. An elegant woman, smarter than she sometimes lets on. Perpetually worried about her children.
Walter Gold – fifities. David and Suzanne’s father. A sometimes gruff New York businessman. Far more sensitive than he often appears.
