(Tucson, AZ--May 7, 2008) — Enrollment is now open for Acting @ the Alley!, Beowulf Alley Theatre Company’s 2008 summer theatre program for students ages 12-17! Only 30 students will be accepted for each two-week session. The sessions will run Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The dates are: Session 1 – June 16 to June 27; Session 2 – July 7 to July 18; and Session 3 – July 21 to August 1, 2008. Students will work with professional actors, directors and theatre arts educators with a combined 30 years of experience, along with local guest artists. Students will have a fun, active, hands-on theatre experience primarily focused on acting, and including many aspects of theatrical production.

 

New and experienced student actors will learn:

·         How to improve and enjoy their onstage experience

·         Creating believable performances through in-depth character analysis

·         Audition techniques used by the most successful professional actors

·         Creating a “living” stage character

·         Dramatic and character improvisation

·         Effective makeup and costume techniques

 

Every student receives a LEAD ROLE in the showcase performance on the final afternoon of each session! Each session offers different techniques to enhance the student’s knowledge of acting, increase self-confidence and develop presentation skills. Enroll in one session or all three for a richer and more complete theatre performance experience. Each 2-week session fee is $400. There is a one-time, non-refundable $25 registration fee. There are discounts when more than one child in the same immediate family registers and when registering for all three sessions at once. A late fee of $25 may be incurred if registration occurs after the established deadlines. A small amount of financial assistance is offered.

 

All workshops and summer program activities are conducted at Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 S. 6th Avenue in downtown Tucson. Students will bring their lunch but snacks will be provided. Beowulf Alley Theatre produces a five-play season, and presents arts activities and showcases for local actors and other performing artists.
