ARIZONA THEATRE COMPANY GALA 2009 HONORS
ANGEL CHARITY FOR CHILDREN, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF ARIZONA, AND
JPMORGAN CHASE

Glittering fundraiser for ATC's education and community-engagement programs

For the past seventeen years, Arizona Theatre Company's annual Gala has launched the Tucson arts season and has become a glittering local tradition. ATC celebrates the 2009-2010 Season on Saturday, October 3, 2009, with its eighteenth Gala at the historic Temple of Music and Art. Dine and dance under the stars in an exciting New York City setting.

Co-chairs for Gala 2009 are ATC Board of Trustees Beth A. Bank and Amy Courson.

The "Live from New York City!" evening begins with a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception in the Temple Courtyard at the Temple of Music and Art, located at 330 S. Scott Ave. in downtown Tucson. Following the courtyard activities will be a special performance by Susan Egan, "The Belle of Broadway," in concert with Christopher McGovern, the Musical Director/Conductor of ATC's Pajama Game and Hair. A special buffet dinner and dancing, accompanied by a Live Auction featuring a number of travel packages, including one to New York City to experience Broadway at its finest, will round out the evening's festivities.

Susan Egan has traversed all four corners of the entertainment industry, making powerful impressions in theatre, film, television and music. She headlined on Broadway as Thoroughly Modern Millie, won critical acclaim as Broadway's (longest-running) "Sally Bowles" in Cabaret, starred in Triumph of Love and State Fair, and received Tony Award and Drama Desk nominations for "Best Actress" as the original "Belle" in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. She's been seen on film in 13 Going on 30, Gotta Kick It Up, countless independents and voiced the animated characters of "Meg" in Disney's Hercules, and "Lin" in the Academy Award-winning Spirited Away, among others. She spent two seasons on WB's Nikki and guest-starred on HOUSE, NUMB3RS, NYPD Blue, Arli$$, Drew Carey, Party of Five, Great Performances, and more. Egan sings with symphonies worldwide, has over 40 recording credits including five solo CDs, and was named Best Vocalist of the Year by TalkinBroadway.com. Entertainment Weekly calls her website, susanegan.net, the "slickest site around."

This year, ATC will honor Angel Charity for Children, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, and JPMorgan Chase with the 2009 "Georgy" Award, for their longtime contributions to our education and community-engagement programs. The "Georgy" Award is named after longtime Tucsonan and ATC Trustee Emeritus George Rosenberg and is presented annually to individuals and organizations that have made an outstanding commitment to ATC and on the arts in Arizona.

Jessica L. Andrews is also being recognized with a special award for her strong commitment to the success of Arizona Theatre Company for the past fourteen years. She concluded her run at ATC as Executive Director, formerly serving as the company's Managing Director for eleven years. She serves on the Executive Committee of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), a national trade association of approximately 80 theatres, and was previously on the board of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional theatre. Since her arrival in Arizona, she has served on the Theatre Panel of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, as president of Arizona Theatre Alliance, the statewide theatre service organization, and currently serves as vice president of Arizona Citizens for the Arts/Arizona Action for the Arts, and on the board of Tucson-based Maricopa Partnership for Arts and Culture. She also represents the field of arts and culture as a member of Women at the Top (WATT), a local businesswomen's club.

Tickets for this event are available for $150 each or a table of ten for $1,500. Reservations and ticket purchases can be made by contacting Marcia Scupin at 520.884.8210 x 8303 or via email at mscupin@arizonatheatre.org.
