Summer Acting Conservatory

May 18th - June 5th

6-10pm, Monday-Friday

with Matt Bowdren and David Greenwood

This three week acting intensive, led by members of the Rogue Theatre’s resident acting ensemble, will explore listening, concentration, character development, and vocal & physical skills. The three weeks will culminate in a performance of scenes for an invited audience of theatre professionals along with friends and family.

This conservatory is for actors with a basic understanding of the craft who want to increase their effectiveness and ability on stage.

Matt Bowdren is an Artistic Associate and Education Coordinator for the Rogue Theatre. He has also been a member of the Rogue Theatre Acting Ensemble for three seasons now. At the Rogue he has appeared in Waiting for Godot, Awake and Sing, Betrayal, Arcadia, Measure for Measure, Richard III and others. Matt facilitates and devises weekly training sessions with the Rogues resident company. Matt is also a Faculty Fellow at the University of Arizona where he serves as a teaching artist. He teaches acting, movement, and directing, and recently performed with the Arizona Repertory Theatre in Frankenstein and Othello. Matt holds an MFA in performance from the University of Georgia and has taught and acted in Georgia and New York City with many companies including The Rose of Athens, Collaborative Stages, The Michael Chekhov Theatre, and The Hudson Shakespeare Company.

 

David Greenwood is a member of the Rogue Theatre Acting Ensemble and has appeared in over seventeen productions at the Rogue. He is the former Artistic Director of Tucson Art Theatre, Tucson, Arizona and a former member of the Cactus Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. David was the founder and lead teacher and facilitator of Actor’s Gymnasium, Prescott College - Tucson Center. David studied acting and directing with Robert Ellermann and has a detailed knowledge of the work of Stanislavsky and the full Stanislavsky tradition. He has taught and lectured on the work of Stanislavsky, Meyerhold, Vakhtangov, Grotowsky, Eugenio Barba/ Odin Teatret and the Group Theatre. His work as a director includes The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, The Glass Menagerie, Cerceau, Figs and Red Wine, Valentine’s Day, Spring Dance, and other plays.
