The First Ever Summer Intensive Workshop

At the Institute For Collaborative Storytelling

Tucson’s nationally rated ScriptDoctor.com, Howard Allen, has joined with Royce Sparks, an internationally recognized acting teacher and actor from London to bring 21st Century Storytelling techniques to actors, directors and writers coming here from around the country.

Beginning July 26, our Participants will learn from the best on the new ways that great Stories can develop in pre-production and rehearsal and long-term collaboration to make hits like the Oscar-winning movie Birdman or the Tony Award-winning play The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time. Or how the amazing British director Mike Leigh developed the Oscar-nominated Mr. Turner.  Or how Pixar uses the collaborative process at every stage of developing movies like Up and Inside Out.  Story can begin in prose pieces that become performances. Story can begin with actors, writers and directors dropping their traditional roles to join together as storytellers.

The best and brightest from Tucson are involved: the new Producing Director of Borderlands Theater and his amazing playwright and acting partner; the producing team at The Rogue Theatre who recently adapted Virginia Woolf stories into great theatre; and the best of local videographers, film festival distributors, rap poets, screenwriters and actors.  Our 12 Participants take this collaboration journey with these experts (we do have one opening left for a Participant).
