      The Community Players Announce Change Of Opening Date

Tucson, AZ - The Community Players, Tucson's Premier Community Theatre Company,

announced today that they are changing the opening date of their upcoming production of

Josefina Lopez's play Real Women Have Curves.  "The change in dates is unfortunate 

and not something we like to do," said Scott Berg, President of the board, "there are

a lot of factors to consider when making that decision."  The need to re-schedule was 

prompted by an unfortunate back injury suffered by one of the cast members.  

Because of this injury, and recommendations from her doctor, the cast member decided 

it best to follow doctors orders, thus, the need to re-cast.  "Absolutely, her health

is by far the most important thing," adds Berg, "we can only hope she has a speedy recovery 

and will be back gracing Tucson stages sometime very soon."

 

The search for a replacement has been successful with the new actress having started

rehearsals this week.  Because of the short amount of time between now and the 

original opening date, the board has decided to move the opening date from September

9th, 2016 to September 15th, 2016.  This will give everyone time to adjust to someone

new and allow time for the new actress to adequately prepare.  

 

The  board also decided to add shows on both Thursday the 15 and Thursday the 22nd 

since the company couldn't extend the run to match the delay at the beginning due to 

a rental commitment to another group.

 

Real Women Have Curves will open Thursday, September 15th and run through Sunday 

September 25, with shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays 

at 2:00pm.  For reservations call 520-887-6239.  The Community Playhouse is located 

at 1881 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705.  From Grant Road head south on Oracle, turn 

right onto Plata, go one block to 13th Ave and turn left.  Go about a half block and pull 

into the gated parking lot.  Entrance to the theatre is off the parking lot through the 

green door.  Tickets are $10.00.
