Subject: Pima Theatre invites you...: Pima Community College Center for the Arts
Pima Theatre steps into the fantastical world of
the ancient Maya. This captivating and colorful production recreates one of the ancient Mayan
creation legends using large-scale puppetry,
music, ritual dance and pageantry.
The Mayan hero twins are summoned by the
creators of the world to deal with the false and
corrupt Seven Macaw, who holds dominion over
the Earth. Through stealth and trickery, the
shape-shifter twins are able to outsmart the
corrupt ruler with their powerful artistry.
The story is symbolic and politically relevant
for today's culture.
Please join us for dinner and a private opening night performance of Pima Theatre's Popol Vuh: The Story of Seven Macaw on Thursday, November 9, 6-9:30 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, West Campus, to raise money for theatre arts student scholarships. We will be honoring past theater arts chair Barclay Goldsmith. The actors and crew will serve the catered dinner on the stage of the Proscenium Theatre followed by a presentation of past and current student successes, along with a sneak peek into the remaining season and our vision for the future. Tickets: $75 (tax deductible contribution $50)
