The King of the Kosher Grocers
By Joe Minjares
Directed by Ed Ortiz
This warm-hearted comedy about 3 diverse men shows hope for the races and generations. Jamar goes to college and works for Izzy Silver’s market, formerly a kosher deli now selling collard greens and tortillas. After 50 years, city inspectors are threatening to close Silvers’ Market, but Jamar, Billy & Chavez scheme to defy the bureaucrats and bring the store to profitability. Nostalgic humor and the unrelenting sarcasm of familiar friends highlight this comedy about a time when human values supersede monetary concerns.
