Thanks to all of you who contacted me about the workshop. If you would like to get the reduced rate and secure your place in the directing workshop, it's time to get those registration forms and checks in the mail. There is already a list of people signed up and space is limited. I don't want anybody to miss out on this exciting event.

Reel Inspiration is hosting a Directing Workshop with master instructor Mark Travis on "Working with Actors in Rehearsal, Staging and Performance." Day 1, Mark will lecture and demonstrate with 3-4 actors the Travis Technique as a powerful tool to explore the characters within the actors. Day 2, pre-selected directors will be coached as they direct two-actor scenes while being observed by an audience of directors and actors.
 

Mark is the author of the Best Seller, THE DIRECTOR’S JOURNEY: the Creative Collaboration between Directors, Writers and Actors as well as DIRECTING FEATURE FILMS. Mark has shared his techniques at The Directors Guild, American Film Institute, Pixar Animations Studios, UCLA Extension, and workshops around the world. Mark is a creative consultant to film directors Mark Rydell, George Tillman, Cyrus Nowrasteh, among others. 

Mark Travis did his undergraduate training at Antioch College and his graduate training in Theatre Directing at the Yale School of Drama. Mark's television directing credits includ e: The Facts of Life, Family Ties, Capitol and the Emmy Award-winning PBS dramatic special, Blind Tom: The Thomas Bethune Story. In 1990, he completed his first film, Going Under, for Warner Bros., starring Bill Pullmanand Ned Beatty. In 2001 he wrote and directed The Baritones (parody of The Sopranos) as well as the short documentary, Earlet.


The weekend intensive directing workshop runs from 8:30 a.m.to 5:30 p.m. on March 21-22 at Artfare, 55 N. 6th Ave., downtown Tucson, AZ. Come at 8 a.m. Saturday to sign in. The cost to observe the Mark Travis Directing Actors workshop is $70 for pre-registered actors, directors or the general public. The price is $80 at the door where only cash and money orders will be accepted.   There is a $10 discount for IFASA, APA, IFP, or NALIP members. Students with ID are $40. (Enclose a copy of current student ID. No additional discounts for students.) *Lunch is available at a modest price at Artfare's restaurant.

To get the reduced pre-registration price,
mail your check and the registration information by March 13.
