MTCVB AND TPAC PARTNER TO LAUNCH SHOWUP.COM IN METRO TUCSON

With support from the Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau (MTCVB) and Tucson Pima Arts Council (TPAC), the Tucson edition of www.ShowUp.com will launch April 20, 2009. ShowUp.com is a comprehensive online calendar and ticket service for arts and cultural offerings and events. The new Tucson component will simplify and enhance the process of learning about and accessing such events in Metro Tucson and Southern Arizona. The arts community and city leaders will celebrate the launch with a commencement ceremony and press conference at 2 PM on Monday, April 20 at the Tucson Museum of Art.

In attendance will be Jessica Andrews, Executive Director for Arizona Theatre Company and NACHOS Co-Chair; Roberto Bedoya, Executive Director for TPAC; Robert Booker, Arizona Commission on the Arts; Matt Lehrman, Executive Director for Alliance for Audience & ShowUp.com; Rick Vaughan, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing for MTCVB; Ward 2 Councilmember Rodney Glassman; Katie Maass, Ward 2 Council Aide; and Ward 6 Councilmember Nina Trasoff; as well as an array of arts and cultural leaders and government officials yet to confirm.

ShowUp.com has been the leading resource for what's happening in theater, music, dance, art, festivals and cultural destinations throughout Greater Phoenix since its launch in November 2004. The invitation from MTCVB and TPAC for ShowUp.com to serve Metro Tucson came after a multiyear discussion and ultimate development of the 2008 Pima Cultural Plan. The inclusion of Tucson events on ShowUp.com will help to fulfill specific goals outlined in the Pima Cultural Plan by providing one comprehensive online calendar of arts and cultural events to the communities of Metro Tucson. ShowUp.com will also offer Tucson arts patrons exciting, last-minute discount ticket offers in its Chase Ticket Marketplace.

"A key recommendation articulated in the Pima Cultural Plan was a call for a comprehensive online cultural calendar that would highlight the cultural richness within Pima County. ShowUp.com offers our communities a proven and viable solution for this need," said Roberto Bedoya, Executive Director for Tucson Pima Arts Council.
"The Tucson launch of ShowUp.com illuminates the spirit of partnership between MTCVB, TPAC and Alliance for Audience as we work together to market and grow audiences for the diverse, innovative and abundance of cultural experiences that distinguishes Tucson."

As of the April 10 soft launch of ShowUp.com Tucson, over 200 Metro Tucson arts and cultural organizations and events will be listed. New postings and event updates will be continually made by ShowUp.com's content team as they search out Pima County events and receive event listings via email at
events@showup.com.

"Tucson's arts and cultural offerings are a strong destination driver for visitors to our city and region," said Rick Vaughan, MTCVB Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "ShowUp.com will be an excellent resource for visitors and locals alike to find, in one place, the dynamic elements of art, culture and attractions in Tucson. Its reputation, visibility and marketing distribution channels statewide will compliment
MTCVB's efforts in communicating these valuable offerings."

"The extension of ShowUp.com to Tucson demonstrates how Arizona's arts and cultural community leads by innovation and collaboration," said Matt Lehrman, Executive Director of Alliance for Audience and ShowUp.com. "By working together, we can pursue goals that go beyond what any organization can do alone.

ShowUp.com is the signature enterprise of Alliance for Audience, a 501c3 non-profit arts service organization created in 2003, that, with the extension of services to Tucson, is transforming from regional to statewide scope. Born out of recognition of shared interests by a wide range of arts organizations and cultural destinations, Alliance for Audience provides a means of collaboration to raise mutual visibility and invite new audience participation.
