Beowulf Alley Theatre’s ActingLab@the Alley: Spring Acting Classes Now Forming

 

(March 30, 2009-Tucson, AZ) Beowulf Alley Theatre Company, 11 South 6th Avenue, Downtown Tucson, is accepting registrations for its Professional Actor Training Program: Stanislavski’s Ultimate Technique, The Method of Physical Actions and Active Analysis. Features of the program include Personal Attention in a Studio Atmosphere, Improvisation, Monologue and Scene Study, Voice, Speech  and Psychophysical Movement and Performance Showcases.

Students begin the first year of training with assimilation of the technique through an introduction to the basic tools and vocabulary of the System. Psychophysical conditioning exercises focus on exploring the various elements of an action: meditation; inner and outer monitors; concentration; relaxation; control of the flow of muscular energy; measure of truth; tempo-rhythm; silent and verbal improvisation; imagination/film of images; breath support; voice and speech; movement; etudes; monologue and scene work.

 

There are two classes from which to choose for the 8-Week Spring Course: Wednesdays, April 8 – May 27, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm or Saturdays, April 11 – May 30, 2009 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Students are given the flexibility to shift to the alternate class in the event of a rehearsal of film shoot. The fee is $350.00 – Less than $22 per hour! Payment plans are available.

 

Philip Bennett is an award winning actor, director and instructor of the Stanislavski System of Acting. He is a founding member of the American Stanislavski Theatre (AST) in New York City and a protégé of Russian émigré teacher and director, Sonia Moore. Phil served as the Assistant Artistic Director of AST where he was both an actor and instructor. In 1976, he founded the San Francisco Theatre Academy at Fort Mason, and subsequently the Bennett Theatre Lab, an avant-garde actor training company. Internationally acknowledged for his expertise in both classical and contemporary theatre, he lectures and conducts workshops at prominent universities and conventions. Graduates appear regularly in films, on television and the professional stage.
