Tucson Film & Music Festival is this weekend! October 8-12, 2009!
The 5th annual TFMF is fast approaching and this year we're presenting an
awesome selection of documentaries, features, short films and music videos –
it's going to be the best year yet!
Continuing the festival's tradition of presenting a wide variety of music
docs, this year's highlights include "D tour" a poignant documentary
following the rise of indie rock band Rogue Wave, and its drummer's quest
for a new kidney; Closing Night Film "Rock Prophecies" featuring rock
photography guru Robert M. Knight and his hunt for the next breakthrough
music star; Opening Night Film "Largo" a performance-driven doc about the
historic Los Angeles nightclub, featuring musicians and comedians including
Aimee Mann, Zach Galifianakis, Flight of the Conchords, Andrew Bird and many
others; and "The Sweet Lady with the Nasty Voice" featuring rockabilly
legend Wanda Jackson, who will also perform live on Saturday, October 10th
at PLUSH.
The narrative entries include "Lost Dream" a drama starring Shaun Sipos
(Melrose Place 2009) and Michael Welch (Twilight) as two young men whose
lives become entwined on a search for their own identity; "Cruzando" an
irreverent look at immigration; and "Bicycle Lane" a comedy about a young
man who takes a surprising bicycle ride across Los Angeles for one chance to
see the girl of his dreams.
Hotel Congress is our festival headquarters this year, and both Club
Congress and PLUSH will be hosting great music acts all weekend, including
the following bands, who are featured in the festival's film or music video
line-ups: Wanda Jackson (Sat 10/10, PLUSH), Ghiant (Sun 10/11, PLUSH), and
These Arms are Snakes (Fri 10/9, PLUSH). To see a list of all music events,
