Subject: ETCETERA Seeking actors for KILLER JOE

ETCETERA, the late night series at Live Theatre Workshop, is looking to fill two roles in the upcoming production of the Tracy Letts play KILLER JOE. Auditions are by appointment only. KILLER JOE will be directed by Christopher Johnson and plays February 5-20th, 2010, Friday and Saturday nights at 10:30 PM. Rehearsals will begin after the first of the year.

ANSEL - Family patriarch in his 40's or 50's, rough around the edges and surly for days, abusive, a mean but cowardly drunk of a man.

DOTTIE - Ansel's daughter, somewhere between the age of 18 and 25, virginal, disturbed, a chronic-sleepwalker. Full frontal nudity.

To schedule an audition, contact Christopher Johnson at CorpusChristopher@hotmail.com or call (520) 481-1449.

This exciting first play by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning author of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY and BUG premiered at Chicago’s Steppenwolf before going on to acclaimed productions in London and New York. Hired by the dissolute Smith family to murder the matriarch for insurance money, Killer Joe Cooper takes the family’s invalid daughter Dottie to bed as a retainer against his final payoff, which sets off a series of gruesomely bloody events as the hit man meets his match.

"Killer Joe revels in its white trash stereotypes and gives you permission to do the same; it's pulp fiction which has it both ways, deriving humor from dirty realism. It's slick, it's well constructed, it knows exactly where it's going."
