Hi, all! Just a reminder to keep the afternoon of May 6 open for a jam with the Batucaxe Performance Group at the Tucson Folk Festival! Batucaxe will be performing 4:30-5:00pm at the Plaza Stage, with special guests as well!


Also happening in the community:  this Saturday night, please check out the Rhythms of Brazil Show, brought to you by Capoeira Mandinga. It will be a great night of entertainment and celebration of Brazilian culture, featuring incredible dancers, musicians and capoeristas. Rhythms of Brazil SHOW

An evening with masters of Brazilian dance, music, and Capoeira

When:  Saturday, April 28th, 7:30 pm (doors open at 7:00 pm)

Where:  Catalina High School, 3645 E. Pima St. (at Dodge Blvd)

Tickets available:  at Antigone Books, 411 N. 4th Ave, & at the Capoeira Mandinga Tucson Academy, 605 E. 6th St.

Rhythms of Brazil will be an incredible show bringing together visiting guest masters to perform for our Tucson community the cultural arts of Brazilian music, dance, and the Brazilian martial art Capoeira.  The show will include performances of Samba, the stick-fighting dance Maculêlê, dances of the Orixas, and Afro-Brazilian dance.  In addition, you will see awesome Capoeira and experience its styles and history though our presentation of "Freedom through Capoeira" , and will learn how Capoeira as a cultural art is bringing the world together through the presentation "Closing the circle:  Capoeira in Rwanda".  Move to the rhythms, feel the beat, and see spectacular performances of these inspiring Brazilian arts.
