Dear Rogues,

We know many things about Shakespeare's troupe, The Lord Chamberlain's Men. We know, for instance, that Richard Burbage was its leading actor. We know that Shakespeare himself played the ghost of Hamlet's father. But we know very little about the boys who played the women in Shakespeare's plays . .

Timothy Findley's Elizabeth Rex, originally produced at the 2000 Stratford Festival in Canada, explores the imaginary meeting of Queen Elizabeth and the extraordinary actor who played the likes of Beatrice and Cleopatra.

Join us for a reading of this fascinating play just weeks before we open Hamlet at The Rogue. We think you'll be as delighted by the discovery as we are!

The Rogue company of actors

Directed by Christopher Johnson
