Hi everyone,

Thank you for coming out tonight to help support Live Theatre Workshop. They had a great turnout at the Savoy Opera House. There are still tickets available for Diane Van Deurzen & Lisa Otey next Saturday, Sept. 26 at Water of Life MCC, with proceeds going to Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse. Please visit www.wolmcc.org for more info and tickets.

On Monday, September 28, I am thrilled to kick off the new Lisa Otey & Friends Concert Series at Z Mansion with 12-yr-old blues phenom Roman Barten-Sherman. Roman has become a fixture on the blues scene in Tucson since he moved here from Bisbee a couple of years ago. He made his debut at the Tucson Folk Festival when he was only 6 years old. Now he has 2 CDs under his belt, as well as accolades like being a finalist in the Telluride Blues Challenge, having his debut CD, "Interstellar Blues", chosen as Pick of the Year by KXCI and winning the AZ Battle of the Bands with his duo.

Roman first fell in love with country and post-war blues when someone put an old guitar in his hand at the age of 4. He quickly started honing his skills, listening to old records of Blind Blake and Missisippi Fred McDowell and playing on the streets of Bisbee. When his family moved to Tucson to open Exploded View, a happening microcinema downtown, Roman started playing around town at venues like Cafe Passe, the modern streetcar, and Hotel Congress, where he plays twice a month.

A year ago, Roman asked me for blues piano lessons. I quickly realized what a tremendous gift he had as he tore through everything I showed him, mastering every style almost immediately. This concert at Z Mansion will feature Roman singing and playing blues guitar and will also be his public debut on the piano. I'll open the show and will also back him up on a couple of tunes, ending in a four-fisted boogie-woogie. You won't want to miss it!

Tickets for Lisa Otey & Friends: Roman Barten-Sherman are $15 and are available online at www.lisaotey.com. You can also call 520.370.5912 or reply to this message to make your reservation and pay at the door. All seats are reserved. The Z Mansion is located downtown at 288 N. Church. The doors will open at 6:30pm, show at 7pm.

See you there!
