We are especially excited this year to be celebrating our 25th annual New Play Festival, where the community has the opportunity to participate in the development of stage plays by local playwrights through feedback and reaction. This year's festival, running April 6-9, is called Drama Under Construction.  Each play will be performed once—as a staged-reading, providing the actor with the opportunity to develop a character that has never been seen on stage before. Because the works are considered “under Construction," blocking, costumes, and settings will be kept to a minimum. Memorization is not required, although there will be from 3 to 6 rehearsals. The festival will be, and has been, well publicized for 25 years across Tucson's Theatre Community.
