If we sleep on nine Midsummer flowers tonight,
Miss Julie, our dreams will come true.
--Jean in
August Strindberg's Miss Julie
Dear Rogue Friends,
I must admit that I, like millions of others, am a fan of Downton Abbey. I've loved watching the tensions between the upstairs and the downstairs, the love affairs, the changing times, and of course, the glorious clothing.
In less than two weeks, our production of Miss Julie opens at The Rogue. In his masterful play, Strindberg gives us a glimpse into late nineteenth century Sweden where servant and master meet and cross into forbidden territory. It's been thrilling living in another time with this fascinating play and The Rogue ensemble members.
We think you'll be captivated by it, too.
(And the clothing is, indeed, glorious!)
