Directed by Nolan Kubota, featuring faculty and student choreographed numbers. The production spotlights four new works from the choreography course lead by adjunct faculty Mirela Rosa. Joining the choreography students onstage will be the Pima Dance Ensemble and the jazz dance students. The program includes several original works by Kubota, including numbers inspired by one of 2016's top films "La La Land." Kubota remarks, "I really loved this film. The score, the dancing, the visuals were so strong. I wanted to bring some of that to our stage."

PCC Dance is hosting guest performers in the dance ensemble from Arts For All, a mixed abilities dance company, directed by Karenne Koo. This is the fourth time that the Arts For All dancers have collaborated with the Pima dance program.

The spring semester at Pima Dance has seen some tremendous changes. According to Kubota, "There are so many new students this year; so many amazing dancers and choreographers. I'm really excited to see what they'll bring to the program."

MEDIA FUSION
Film, Game Design, Animation

Monday, May 15
6 p.m. preshow, 7 p.m. screening

Free

The 2017 annual student screening. New this year is a collaboration of student work in three areas—game design, animation, and film. A preshow event in the Recital Hall invites the audience to participate in interactive gaming and additional work not in the main show. The 7 p.m. screening in the Proscenium Theatre highlights the best of all three areas.

According to department chair Dennis Landry, "There is a strong demand in the community for creative workers trained in game design, animation, film and web design. PCC's digital arts department is developing students with career-building skill sets to acquire a really good job."

Please note: Some of the work contains adult content and language.
