Subject: FREE KIDS & FAMILY Spectacular Sunday at TENWEST Tucson Comedy Telethon Oct. 13
A spectacular lineup of comedy for kids and families is in store from 9 a.m. to noon at Hotel McCoy, 720 W. Silverlake Road (northwest corner of 29th St./Silverlake and I-10). The show is part of the TENWEST 86,400 Second Tucson Comedy Telethon from 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 through 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13. Proceeds of donations raised throughout the free event will support a prize for the winner of the TENWEST Teacher's Pitch for classroom innovations in arts and technology.
Frank Powers of the Comic Book Mobile hosts the morning show, featuring
- Leora Sapon-Shavin, cast member of Stories That Soar, currently performing the one-person show, The Gonzo Hour in Live Theatre Workshop's Etcetera series. (9 a.m.)
- Michael Howell, veteran master of illusions, magic and comedy
- Unscrewed Theatre's longest-running short-form improv team, Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed
- Amber Frame, family-friendly observer of hilarity in daily life, appearing this month at Clean Comedy Vail
- Comic Chaos, Unscrewed Theatre house team and hosts of Unscrewed's monthly family night
- Zack Armstrong, juggler and a fixture at public events for kids
- Tucson Improv Movement's F.O.M.P. (Friends of Make Pretends) featuring Zack Armstrong. FOMP performs a monthly kids' show at TIM Comedy Theatre and twice a month in the cancer ward of Diamon Children's hospital.
