                TENWEST: It's Not Just Technology

The TENWEST Impact Festival October 11 through 20 encourages commitment to innovation in all things, but few might have expected it to inspire Tucson's first known 24-hour comedy telethon, from 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 through 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.

Produced by the Tucson Comedy Alliance, the Telethon offers Tucsonans a "Wit"man's sampler of the wide variety of funny folks in Tucson. They provide us with almost two-dozen shows a week where we can laugh in community.

The telethon also benefits our aspiring standup comedians by allowing them to stretch from the 3 to 5 minutes available at open mics to 15 minutes all the way up to an hour onstage.

The remodeled Mid-Century modern Hotel McCoy is hosting the event. Admission is by entirely optional donation. Donations will be taken throughout the event to provide prize money to recognize teachers who win a pitch competition about their classroom innovations related to technology and the arts.

TIM will be well represented at the event with some duo teams, the all-Spanish-Language team ¿Como Sé Dice? and Friends of Make Pretends (F.O.M.P).

TIM 3V3 winners Buttercoat will perform a victory lap at Tucson Meet Yourself on Saturday, 10/12. Find them at 7:15 in the TENWEST Pavillion hosted by Local First Tucson. Can't miss it; it's next to that big, red sculpture at Stone and Pennington. They'll be promoting the TENWEST 86,400 Second Tucson Comedy Telethon hosted by Tucson Comedy Alliance.

Follow tucsoncomedy.com for the telethon lineup and other features of the show.
