Hello,

I am a SAG member in Tucson. Could you post these flyers for me?

Thanks! K.C.

ACTORS WANTED!!!

There is an audience waiting for you...

The most unconditionally approving audience for whom you will ever have the chance to perform...

The Children of Arizona Need You

The simple fact that you can read this flyer makes you different from hundreds
of thousands of people across the United States who cannot read.
Illiteracy is a major problem.
You are uniquely qualified to help the children of our area.

BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools),

a program of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, needs volunteers ‑
professional actors, theater students, and interested community members
to read aloud to children at elementary schools
in at-risk neighborhoods on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

In 1993, BookPALS was founded by Barbara Bain (of Mission Impossible fame) in
Los Angeles and now includes 18 chapters nationwide. Its premise is clear:
"Children must be exposed to the magic of books to develop a love of reading.
Who better to make that magic come alive than actors, gifted in the art of
storytelling?"

Help a child to discover the power of reading, to develop critical thinking and
vocabulary, to ignite imagination and to feel connected to the world around us.
Use your significant influence and unique creative abilities as a professional
actor to show children that books can be just as entertaining as television and
video!

The unexpected rewards that you will receive are immeasurable.

You're never too old, too wacky, too wild
to pick up a book and to read to a child
- Dr. Seuss

BECOME A BOOKPAL

BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), a nationwide program of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, is an organization of enthusiastic actors, -theater students,- educators, and community members who volunteer their time to visit classrooms on a weekly basis to read aloud to kids for an hour (1/2 hr per classroom). These are children in high-risk, disadvantaged schools who may have no one at home to read to them. You will make a BIG difference in their lives.

Using your talents as an actor and expressive reader, you can bring stories to life. You can take words from the page and create worlds! Here's a chance to practice your creative skills and talents, while giving back to your community in a way that is uniquely yours.

Don't worry, training and book lists are provided. I promise you many unexpected rewards and the most appreciative audience ever!
