From: rosiezwaduk@gmail.com
Sent: Thursday, April 30, 2009 11:39 AM
Subject: Wanted: Hair and Make-up Artist

Wanted:  Make-up and Hair Artist

Mid-May, (will work with your schedule) I am wanting to hire a hair and make-up artist to help me create 5-10 great character shots.  I would desire someone who can help to create some of the characters--a blank canvas, if you will.  :)

It will be a one-day thing in central Tucson, approximately 4-6 hours long.  I can provide some of the basic make-up and hair items, however you may need to fill in some items.

This will be a paid position.

Please send me a copy of your resume, some examples of work you have done, and your pay rate for a half-day gig.  If you are new to the biz and don't have examples or a resume, that's okay too--just tell me a little about yourself and what you're wanting.

Cheerz!

Rosie Zwaduk  :-)

For Their Big Musical Review!!!

This spring Kids Unlimited is sharing with Tucson not just one fabulous music and dance review, but two fantastic shows that are sure to entertain. Our cast will include all performing, dance, voice, musical theatre, and acting improv classes age four through high school.

May 9th and 10th, KU is proud to present their musical extravaganza "Music of America and Across the Universe". As the title suggests, this show encompasses a wide range of mu sic spanning the globe and even wondering into the fantastical. The show opens with the Bollywood stylings of the Academy Award winner, Slum Dog Millionaire. From there the show swiftly moves into a fast paced patriotic medley showcasing the legendary standards of Americana, including classic pieces by the likes of George M. Cohan and Lee Greenwood. Act II revives classic American rock n' roll with a back to the 50's tribute, and then travels across the pond to revisit the British invasion with a nod to the Beatles. And what world wind journey would not be complete without a visit to Oz as experienced through the musical adaption of Gregory McGuire's Wicked.

May 16th, Kids Unlimited presents the various talents of their dance, voice, musical theatre and acting improv students. The KU Studios Spring Recital ranges from the classical ballet to urban hip hop with everything in between.  Dancers proudly execute their choreographed numbers, singers croon their hearts20out. With music from the movies, a piece from the Tran Siberian Orchestra, some Spanish influence, and a liberal dash of fun this performance has something for everyone.

Kids Unlimited is a non-profit organization celebrating 22 years of fulfilling its mission to "Provide a safe stage for Tucson's young performers from ages four to eighteen". Kids Unlimited entertains charitable organizations including retirement and nursing homes in and around Tucson and the Southern Arizona area. Tucson: St. Francis Theatre Collaborative presents Twelve Angry Jurors

From: rencila@aol.com [mailto:rencila@aol.com]
Sent: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 10:40 PM
Subject: Twelve Angry Jurors at St. Francis in the Foothills

The St. Francis Theatre Collabortive performs Reginald Rose's classic drama, Twelve Angry Jurors this Friday and Saturday at 7 PM. Remaining dates are May 1, 2, 8, and 9 at 7 PM. Tickets are $15 and $12 and can be purchased by calling 360-7025 or by logging on to www.brownpapertickets.com. All performances are held at 4625 E. River Road (northwest corner of River and Swan).

This American classic is as compelling and relevant today as when it appeared as Twelve Angry Men for the CBS program, Studio One, in 1954.   The drama's success garnered 3 Emmy Awards and inspired a film presentation by the same title several years later that was nominated for 3 Academy Awards. In 2005, a restaging of this work won the Drama Desk Award as well as a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. The current version is directed by Robert Encila.

This rendition of Twelve Angry Jurors takes place in a 1995 New York City courtroom where a diverse group of 12 men and women is empanelled to hear the case of an inner-city teenager accused of murder. The drama turns on not only the "facts" of the case but also on the interplay of the personal history, biases and ideals that each juror brings to the deliberation process.  This riveting production is more than a commentary on the foundations of the American legal system; it is a powerful examination of the role of truth and justice in our society and ultimately a story about the potential of our individual power - if we have the courage to take a stand for our principles.

Tucson: Access Tucson Alert - UPDATE

 From: Access Tucson <vikkid@accesstucson.org
 Date: 4/24/2009 4:40:04 PM
Subject: Access Tucson Alert - UPDATE

 Dear Friends:

City Manager Mike Letcher has made budget recommendations to the Tucson
Mayor and Council and there will be a public hearing on the FY 2010 budget
this coming Tuesday, April 28th at about 6:00 p.m. at the Tucson Convention
Center. The recommendation for Access Tucson funding is a reduction of
$179,581 which is a 20% cut from this year's funding, over a 30% cut from
last year's funding. We hope that some of you may attend the public
hearing to show support for Access Tucson.

We do not think Access Tucson is being treated fairly in this budget
compared to other organizations funded by the City and in particular
because the funding source (the cable television license fees paid by
Tucson Cox subscribers) has not decreased at all in the last two years. A
cut of this magnitude will mean severe cuts in services to our members as
well as the groups and organizations we serve.

We hope that you will let the Mayor and Council know how you feel about
this by attending the public hearing Tuesday and if you have not already
done so, by emailing the Mayor and Council at mailto:mcweb@tucsonaz.gov.

ALSO -- don't forget to come see Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! She
will speak and sign her new book at the Tucson Convention Center ballroom
on Sunday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m. Tickets still on sale at Access Tucson
and KXCI and at the door for $10. This is a fundraiser for KXCI and Access
Tucson. More information at www.accesstucson.org.

See you Sunday at Amy Goodman and Tuesday at the public hearing!

Tucson: Casting for a recurring TV spot: Child actor + several other roles (PAID)

From: TEP Multimedia [mailto:brightcasting@gmail.com]
Sent: Friday, April 24, 2009 12:01 PM
Subject: Casting for a recurring TV spot: Child actor + several other roles needed (PAID)

I'm looking to cast some actors for a new TV campaign I'm working on.  We're shooting on May 15th/16th (reserving both days in order to work around the schedule of our child actor) in Tucson, and yes, this is a paid gig.

Here's what we're looking for...

'Otto'  -  Male, 5-10 years old.  Able pronounce/enunciate big words well.  Something along the lines of the cute kid in Jerry Maguire, but we're not locked in on hair color or anything like that.

'Bob' - Male, 35-45.  Otto's dad is clean cut, handsome, and always smiling.  He's Mr. Brady, but without being stuck in a timewarp.

'Barb' - Female, 35-35.  Otto's mom is also clean cut and full of cheer.

'Betty' - Female, 13-19.  Otto's big sis fits right in with the rest of the family (Otto's the black sheep, so to speak, if you haven't guessed that already).

We're also casting several 'man on the street' types with speaking roles.  These roles can be male or female and can range in age from 16-65+.

If you think you're a good fit, you can reach us at...

...Headshots are great, but if you have anything available online that shows you in action we'd love to see that as well!

Thank you very much.

-Phillip
