Doug Mitchell, who was recently named one of the “five must-see actors in Tucson” by Arizona Star theater critic Kathleen Allen, will be appearing in the DesertView Theatre’s production of the Neil Simon classic, “The Sunshine Boys” in SaddleBrooke for two performances only, January 28 and 29, 2011. “The Sunshine Boys,” which has been called one of the funniest comedies ever written, centers on two retired Vaudeville stars who have seen better days and who are now brought together for a final performance on a television salute to comedy. The two, whom Simon loosely based on the real-life Vaudevillians, Smith and Dale, haven’t talked to each other since the act suddenly broke up eleven years ago, and no love is lost between them. Directed by Tim Koch, “The Sunshine Boys” cast also includes John Allen, Casey Domalewski, Selma Goldstein, Karen Moore, John Wright, Stan Udowitz and Duane Hartzler. The show is produced by Leona Mitchell Productions and Lloyd Maritz in association with the Canyon Moon Theatre in Sedona. Tickets are $19 and can be purchased at the SaddleBrooke box office 825-2818 or on line at http://tickets.saddlebrooketwo.com.
