History:

Joss Whedon's Serenity, the theatrical follow-up to his hit show "Firefly," was released in 2005 to both critical and fan acclaim, but box office numbers failed to indicate any likely sequel in the near future.

Hope seemed lost until the global Browncoat community came up with the idea to not only but Serenity back into theaters, but also do it for a cause!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a 2008 musical comedy-drama miniseries in three acts, produced exclusively for Internet distribution. Filmed and set in Los Angeles, the show tells the story of Dr. Horrible (played by Neil Patrick Harris), an aspiring supervillain; Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion), his nemesis; and Penny (Felicia Day), their shared love interest.

Tucson and Phoenix have participated in the Serenity movement since its inception, raising over $50,000 to date. Tucson has donated over $3,000 of that to the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona (WFSA), a local Tucson organization devoted to helping women in need get back on their feet.

This year we will be adding Kids Need to Read to our charitable donations.  Kids Need to Read is a national children's literacy non-profit based in Mesa, Arizona.

On October 1st, 2016, the Historic Fox Theatre, Downtown, once again Tucson plays host to the Arizona Browncoats and Serenity in The Desert! We couldn't be more excited!
