"Comedy is hard, and sometimes painful" a direct quote from Mr. Mike Wazowski. Sorry It's been about a month since I was in Disney but it's still on my mind. You know what is a challenge, blending improv and stand up. They are different things with different feels, so sometimes it's hard to connect them into one show. But I think we have done it, enter Set Unlisted. Saturday at 7:30 we are going to rock the show again, where stand ups do their set, and then a team of improvisers comes in, picks up the set list, and uses that to create improvised scenes. This show was created several years ago, think garage door days, and we resurrected it for TCAF 2019, and its too fun to lay dormant, it needs to be on the stage. Hope too see you there for the happiest marriage of the two biggest comedic arts.
We are getting so close to the Cactus Flower Comedy Festival, our all female and gender non-conforming comedy festival. I am still overwhelmed that we have Jill Bernard and Shannon Stott coming to town. We used to sell Jill's book at the old theater, and I've been in a few of her workshops and they are amazing. She is the brightest ball of joy in improv. I am so excited to have them visit Tucson and to share our community with them! Jump in their workshops, and make sure you get to see Jill and her duo partner Shannon Stott perform Friday night during the second half of the Soap Box show. PS we got Randi Dorman former mayoral candidate and downtown advocate telling the stories. Or check out the Drum Machine show that Jill has performed around the world on Saturday night. You can get the all festival pass for $30, and that is a steal to see both of Jill's shows. I am so excited and honored to present CFCF next week, hope to see you there!
