Tucson, Arizona – Pima Community College Music presents Christopher Smith in a flute recital. The program includesSyrinx” by Debussy, “Suite no. 2 in b minor” by J.S. Bach, “Andante Pastorale et Scherzettino” by Taffanel, “Sonate for Flute and Piano” by Hindemith, and “Carnival of Venice” by Briccialdi.
 
A native Tucsonan, Smith began playing the flute at age 13. He joined the Tucson Flute Club in 1997, where he studied under Bonney Rush Haugen, Sandy Schwoebel, and Phil Swanson. He currently plays flute and piccolo with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and is experienced in performing classic orchestral repertoire in addition to modern and commissioned literature.  Smith joins the ranks of other international performers, traveling to China with SASO during its 2009-2010 winter tour. He performs with Pima Community College Wind Ensemble, The Southern Arizona Flute Orchestra, and as a freelance flutist with various performing arts groups in Tucson.
 
The Christopher Smith Flute Recital is open to the public. Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office, located on West Campus at 2202 West Anklam Road, Tucson, (just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Road which turns into Anklam Road). Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon-5 p.m. and one hour prior to performance.
